Embra is a unique acrylic painting was produced in 1982 and includes the ever-present fish that James Christensen is known for. A perfect piece for the Christensen fan that loves his older, more "quirky" images.

The definition of "Playing a Hunch" is to have a lucky notion or premonition. Gamblers once believed that rubbing a hunchback’s hump brought good luck. James Christensen has given the phrase a more "literal" meaning with this very special watercolor. This piece is an early rendition of the concept that was ultimately made into the oil painting found in "The Art of James Christensen - A Journey of the Imagination" (page 117).
